After Maya's dad passed away, there was no one except her mom, Su, to make the 20 minute walk–multiple times a day–to haul dirty water from the river.
That left 4-year-old Maya alone in charge of the babies.
In rural Myanmar, water can be hard to come by. Hauling it from the river ate away at the time Su could spend working in the field... and at the money her children needed to go to school.
Today, Maya is 12. Thanks to donors like YOU, there is now a well pumping clean water a few feet from their home. Su has time to run a small business. And Maya and her siblings just finished the school year with good grades.

“One of the things that we do at CBN that I love is drilling fresh water wells so communities can have clean water. Providing clean water means saving lives. Water is an essential human need, and as Christians, we’re called to put the love of Christ in action by helping those who need it most.”
- Gordon Robertson, CEO, CBN
“I used to take water from the pit, that water smells ugly and tastes ugly but I drank it because there was no other water to drink. Sometimes my mom didn’t have money to buy water so I went to the pit and took water to drink for myself and my siblings. I am very happy to have clean water. Thank you for bringing us water. I like this water!”
- Katherine Curichima, age 10, Peru
